Check-In Post - June 13th 2025
Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
This Week's Question: We all probably have multiple WiPs, but which of yours has been hanging around longest, waiting to be finished?
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

The sweep came and swept the chimney, checked the fire was in good condition, and did some scraping of the firebox to help me. I'll still have a lot to do, and I need to remove all the grate parts for cleaning too, but hopefully I'll be able to get the rest done over the next few weeks, a bit at a time.

I hope my pepper plants get going, it was so unseasonably cool for most of May they are still so small.

You'll do whatever you feel like, but whatever it is, you deserve to relax. You've worked hard today!

I had started Alphi's second boot (and wrote up the pattern for it) a few days ago, but I didn't finish it. I potentially have ADHD which means I am one of those people who thinks tasks are finished early and can't do the "cleaning up" part, so when I stopped knitting on it, I just dropped it on my bed and moved it around from bed to chair back to bed for a few days. Two of the DPNs have since fallen out from the moving, and I am cross. Thinking of pulling it out (I hadn't gotten far) and starting his white tunic instead.
So, I'm sitting here mentally knitting in my head, trying to figure out the tunic. I may need to do +shudders+ a BOX PLEAT. But I'm not sure yet - the promotional art sorta makes it look less like a pleat and more like three separate pieces that are sewn together? So I might do that instead.... yeah, I'm probably being ridiculous, converting a "sewn" item to knitting, but it wouldn't be the first time I did it.
Gotta put laundry in dryer now, and then I will do some more thinking... and maybe even some knitting, we'll see.

Oops! You'll get the other boot finished at some point, but the needles falling out won't help.
Doesn't look like a box pleat to me, definitely seems moors like three panels connected at the top somehow. The whole outfit is really amazing.
Good luck with the thinking and possible knitting!

I would cry if the needles fell out for reals.

Shiny new plot bunnies are fun! I've got one myself, just got to find the time to write it since none of my regular challenges are offering suitable prompts for it. Have fun with yours!

News: whether or not it'd work to join 2ply cotton thread with a russian join is first impeded by the fact I'd need a (blunt) tapestry needle like two sizes smaller than what I've got to be all that confident with my hands. I'm not waiting that long to keep going so weird fuckass stitches that use both tails so they are both locked the fuck into place for several inches of the project it is!!

But then if I wanted a fast project I wouldn't be doing this project to begin with, so forwards march to the end!

Good luck! Whatever does the job, right?
