Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: No question this week.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

You are like Speedy Gonzales with your knitting needles! (not that he had knitting needles, of course, but he was speedy, too)

Well done!

This is a second junk journal, this one for [personal profile] debriswoman. The purpose of this journal was to give her a space to write and/or sketch. It was a Singer Sewing Manual from 1969 which I got for free at a library craft swap. There are 3 signatures, 3 themes, 44 pages (so 88 pages total). The themes were nature, detectives, and art. More images at my journal: https://stonepicnicking-okapi.dreamwidth.org/541482.html

It looks lovely. Such old paper has so much character, doesn't it?

My Grandma had an old Singer sewing machine the loss of which I'm still mourning. These new electric ones can't even come close.

Yes. And I kept the guts of the book so I can use them in some kind of future papercraft. It's amazing it was free at the library. My grandmother had a pump Singer, too.

Me-time was fairly sparse today (again), but at least I've made the body base for the next little angel and reinforced the covers of a notebook for Mum to use it for the household book-keeping. The front cover was autumn-themed, so I decorated the inside with little hedgehog, mushroom and acorn stickers. Mum liked it very much.

Sounds like you've done some stuff, though, in the time you had.

I love the sound of the autumn theme!

hello, I'm new o/ this group seems nice

currently working on a cross stitch that I'm hoping to get done before christmas, but likely won't lol

nearly done with the second color though (it's probably not the optimal way to do things, but it tickles my brain in a pleasing way to do one color at a time, usually light to dark)

Welcome! That's a neat way to do things! What is the cross stitch of?
Friday, November 15th, 2024 11:20 pm (UTC)

it is currently a secret as it is a gift for a friend! very unlikely that they'd see this comment, but you never know XD I'll be posting it on my blog once they've received it

in a big push I finished the two sleeves for my wife's sweater over 24 hours, and then we washed it... and despite it being superwash, half of one of the sleeves immediately felted. so heartbroken. we're going to try some method of soaking it in water/softener to try to fix it but the likelihood is I'm probably going to have to cut it & reknit half of one of the sweaters. apparently this can happen with Berroco superwash wool... ugh

Oh no, I'm so sorry! I hope it's fixable.
